Senior Human Resources Manager- Labor Relations- Retained ...

Resource, Inc. has been retained to lead the recruitment for a high impact Sr. Manager for Welch Foods. Our client, with sales of over $650 million dollars annually, is a leader in its categories with an expanding market share nationally and internationally.

Brief Overview of Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Title: Sr. Manager Human Resources ? Labor Relations
The Sr. HR Manager partners with the management team to create and maintain an environment for people that results in Welch?s success. Organizational expert in labor relations, acts as chief spokesperson for all labor negotiations. HR Business Partner for Operations/Supply Chain both corporately and at the plant. Other areas of responsibility include employee relations, organizational development, staffing, training and development, safety, workers? compensation and security.

Principle Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Labor Relations ? Develop and execute cost-effective labor relations, work structure and union collaboration strategies to improve our competitiveness and to meet the changing needs of our consumers and customers. Organizational expert in labor relations, handling all fourth step grievances and arbitrations. Chief spokesperson for all labor negotiations.

Organizational Development ? Partner with the operations/supply chain senior leadership team and plant HR Managers to align people resources and capabilities of the organization to meet the challenges of the business. This will include organizational planning and design, change leadership, and coaching and development strategies. The goal is to understand business issues and implement the appropriate tools to drive employee engagement to meet required objectives.

Business Partner ? HR Business Partner for operations/supply chain both corporately and at the plant through a dotted line relationship to the HR managers. Facilitates providing all HR services including employee relations, organizational design, training and development, performance management and staffing.

Lean ? Partner with the manufacturing leadership team to drive the organization?s lean initiatives. Provide HR functional expertise in organization development, training & development, job redesign, and labor relations to help transform the manufacturing culture into a Lean organization. In addition, develop a strong knowledge of Lean principles (5S, Value Steam Mapping, Kaizen) and employ them within HR.

Safety ? Foster a safe working environment by facilitating the development and maintenance of a safe work environment and safe work practices. Works with plant HR managers to develop safety committees, tracking safety reward systems, and cost efficient and effective safety training. Consolidates and reports on safety metrics and overall worker?s compensation costs. Shares responsibility for safety performance with plant management teams.

? Grandview Sr. HR Coordinator Dotted Line

SCOPE:
? Four Plants and Corporate Operations/Supply Chain:
o North East (350 employees) Teamsters Local 397
o Lawton (107 employees) United Food Workers Local 825
o Grandview (40 employees) Teamsters Local 360
o Westfield (25 employees) United Food and Commercial Workers
o Corporate Operations and Supply Chain (55 employees)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
? Strong strategic and functional knowledge in labor relations. Chief spokesperson experience highly desired.
? Strong strategic and functional knowledge in the areas of employee relations, staffing, training, performance management, and employment law/compliance.
? Strong financial management skills and business acumen.
? Ability to lead and influence others
? Knowledge of change management principles
? Effective relationship building skills
? Proven ability to advocate for employees, managers, and the company
? Ability to take initiative and be accountable for taking risks
? Promotes improvement and challenges the ?status quo?
? Desire to be trained in lean principles, strategies and tools.
? Strong verbal and written communication skills
? Effectively manages conflict
? Demonstrates flexibility

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
? 10 plus years experience, at least 5 of which must be in a unionized manufacturing environment.
? B.A./B.S. degree in Human Resources, Business or related field; Master?s degree or MBA a plus
? SPHR preferred.
? Position requires travel of approximately 30 ? 40%.

POSITION LOCATION: based at headquarters in Concord, MA

Compensation: 160K + or ? in total cash compensation including base and incentive bonus plus competitive benefits program. Relocation program is available.
