I already baked a Humble Pie, how about a Cake of Pride ...

Apparently someone somewhere likes me, as my last post was Freshly Pressed. That makes two fresh pressings for this young writer, or more scientifically, 200% of my expected number of pressed freshnesses for fiscal year 2012.

I can?t thank the WordPress community enough. I?ve said it before: you all are the reason I keep writing this blog. You are the people in the seats of my literary concert hall, your comments and ?likes? the standing ovation. To say I appreciate you reading my work isn?t really enough. You all have given me purpose and drive, as well as a nicely bloated ego.

A brief introduction to Literature and Libation for any new readers:

My blog is a weird hybrid of humor, writing, and beer. I try to be funny whenever appropriate (but often when inappropriate, too) and have been chronicling my self-taught writing lessons in a series I call ?Craft and Draft.? I am a very boring technical writer during normal working hours, a writing student at JHU during evening hours, and I wear a cloak around my house sometimes, just for fun.

I also review beer. If you?re looking for BeerAdvocate style direct analysis, I?m sorry to say you won?t find that here. I know what ?mouthfeel? is, and I know the difference between Mt. Hood and Columbus hops, but I tend not to write about stuff that is covered much more thoroughly and accurately on other sites. My ?reviews? can take many forms, usually whatever inspires me as a drink the beer. If you?re into that sort of thing, check out the ?Beer Fridge? tab on the top right to see all my reviews to date.

95% of the photographs on the blog were taken by me, except for those that I could not physically take (like that one of James Joyce playing the guitar). As much as I wish I could travel back in time to get candid shots of long-dead celebrity authors doing interesting things, I only have so many hours in the day. If you?d like to use any of my photos, go for it. I only ask for a link-back or a photo cred.

If you have any questions or suggestions or just want to chat, I?m very open to comments and do my very best to respond to each and every one. Please don?t be offended if I don?t respond immediately; sometimes I get distracted petting a kitty for several hours.

But most importantly, welcome and thank you. I hope you enjoy my writing. If I make you laugh, you?ve made my day.

-Oliver

What's in a name? that which we call a roseBy any other name would smell as sweet; unless it was full of bees. Then it wouldn't be very sweet at all.
